About the Project

The project

Innovation of African VET in Agriculture (InnAVET) is a 3-year Capacity Building project co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ CB VET programme.Strongly rooted in the legacy of the SAAM (Supporting Alliance for African Mobility) pilot project, InnAVET aims to improve Vocational Education and Training (VET) in agriculture across Cameroon, Mali, and Burkina Faso.

By modernizing educational curricula, introducing innovative teaching methodologies, and bridging the gap between VET schools and local companies, the project enhances training relevance to actual labor market needs. Ultimately, InnAVET works to foster local socio-economic development, unlock high-quality job opportunities for youth, and introduce sustainable, greener agricultural practices.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

To drive systemic and sustainable change, the InnAVET project is focused on the following pillars:

Improve Quality and Attractiveness

Elevate the perception and quality of agricultural VET, bringing training closer to the real job-market.

Develop Green and Sustainable Skills

Incorporate environmentally friendly, cutting-edge techniques into agricultural education.

Foster Work-Based Learning (WBL)

Enhance methodological innovation by implementing practical, hands-on learning models.

Strengthen Business Partnerships

Build robust, formal collaborations with local stakeholders and the private corporate sector.

Enhance Trainer and Manager Capacities

Support the professional development of African VET managers and teaching staff through cross-border peer learning.

TARGET GROUPS

InnAVET brings together and directly impacts a wide spectrum of actors in both Africa and Europe.

VET Students and Young Learners

80 learners across Cameroon, Mali, and Burkina Faso who will access improved curricula and participate in a pilot dual-education (alternance) scheme.

VET Teachers, Trainers, and Educators

Agricultural trainers who will upgrade their pedagogical expertise, entrepreneurial skills, and sustainable farming methods.

VET Centre Managers and Directors

Leadership staff taking part in train-the-trainer activities, international mobilities, and institutional capacity building.

Local Agricultural Companies

Private businesses and farms looking to co-design training paths, host apprentices, and close the local skills gap.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

InnAVET combines analysis, training, curriculum development and practical learning experiences to modernise agricultural VET and strengthen cooperation with the labour market.

Needs Analysis and Stakeholder Engagement Mapping training needs and identifying agricultural skill gaps with local stakeholders.
Capacity Building and Mobilities Training and international mobility opportunities for VET staff and managers.
Module Co-Creation and Curriculum Adaptation Developing training modules on green skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The "Alternance" Pilot Scheme Testing a work-based learning model involving 80 learners.
Communities of Practice (CoP) Creating networks for knowledge sharing and long-term collaboration.
VET-Business MoUS Establishing formal partnerships between VET providers and local companies.
